The covid-19 vaccination is soon to be a readily available thing in South Africa for ages 18 and up. Most people above 35 can freely register and start their vaccine process if they wish to do so. Game is now making the vaccine even more attractive for shoppers. According to the retailer, the store is launching what they are calling “Vax Appreciation Wednesdays”. In turn, those who are vaccinated, and can show proof of it, will get up to a 10% discount on purchases.
Vax Appreciation Wednesdays will start on 18 August 2021 and run up until 15 September. Game says that anyone can participate in the discount. Be it whether you have had one or two shots of the vaccine. All you need to do is produce your vaccine card and ID on the Wednesdays in-store and claim your discount.

Game marketing president Katherine Madley says that the day has been set aside to say thank you to the people who are doing their part in keeping the stores safe. In a statement to Business Insider, Madley says:
“We absolutely respect people’s freedom of choice to receive the Covid-19 vaccination, and by no means oblige our customers to share their vaccination status with us. However, we have seen firsthand the effect COVID has had on the consumer budget and lifestyle and aim to support South Africa and its people in the recovery from this. This is our way of thanking customers for making our stores safe”.
Customers who decide to participate in this discount initiative can get 10% off their purchases to the max of R10,000 worth of discount. This means if you spend R100,000, you will be able to benefit from a full R10,000 discount.
Unfortunately, those looking for PS5 consoles at a discount won’t be able to save money here. Firstly, there is no PS5 stock available in SA at the moment and secondly, the offer is valid in-store only. If you’re lucky enough to find a console at a Game store then good for you. You can save some cash there.
You can also grab some games and accessories at the store with your 10% discount. Game stocks PS5 and Xbox accessories in-store and R149 off a DualSense purchase of R1,500 goes a long way. Whatever you are buying at Game, keep in mind that if you have been vaxxed, you can save.
