Mortal Kombat 1 might be adding Ghostface to its roster of DLC characters. We’ve known about this information since a datamine last year revealed the Scream villain’s presence in the game’s dialogue files but now, a new leak has seemingly confirmed this.
The leak comes from well-known Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer Interloko who recently dug through the game’s dialogue files. Going over Mileena, one of the game’s announcers, she clearly introduces Ghostface as one of the characters. However, Ghostface has yet to be officially announced by NetherRealm Studios as a DLC character. If the developer plans on adding the villain to the roster sometime soon, this might be our best lead yet.
The current Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 1 previously dropped crossover characters like The Boys‘ Homelander, Invincible‘s Omni-Man and Peacemaker. In that case, Ghostface might be part of a new upcoming Kombat Pack as the last character to arrive in the current Pack is Takahashi Takeda.
Ghostface has been the iconic masked killer of the Scream horror movie franchise since the 90s. Each movie portrayed a different killer wearing the Ghostface mask – in some cases, it has been multiple killers. Known for their recognisable mask, raspy voice modulator and horror movie references, Ghostface has been a staple of meta-horror cinema for decades. It will be hilarious to see the killer interact with Mortal Kombat‘s characters, especially since they don’t have to hold back with fatalities.
In case you missed it, Evo 2024, the largest fighting game tournament in the world, will feature Mortal Kombat 1, Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6, among others, as the headliner games in the competition this year. This will also mark Mortal Kombat 1‘s debut at the latest Evo, which will once again take place in Las Vegas from 19-21 July.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch.
