Sometimes when you see a new piece of tech so impressive and beautiful you can’t help but dream about it in your gaming setup. Tonight, I will have dreams about the Samsung 75-inch MicroLED TV announced at CES 2019 as it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and awesome displays ever.

So why Samsung’s 75-inch MicroLED so impressive? Well, if you remember back at CES 2018, Samsung unveiled the massive “The Wall”, but this is basically a smaller and hopefully more affordable version that you won’t need an entertainment space the size of the theatre for. You see, this TV uses microscopic LED chips just like “The Wall” but Samsung has made them even smaller, allowing for the 75-inch size in a 4K display. These MicroLED chips emit their own individual light, so there is no need for any form of backlight.

This all means that the device can be ultra-thin and with the millions of self-emissive chips featuring inorganic red, green and blue, it could potentially be not only an OLED competitor but the next big step in TV tech. This technology also optimizes content no matter the size and shape of the screen and it supports all kinds of aspect ratios you can think of, from the standard 16:9 to 32:9 and even 1:1.

Thanks to the modular nature of Micro LED, this technology offers flexibility in screen size that allows users to customize it to fit any room or space. By adding Micro LED modules, users can expand their display to any size they desire.

Further, MicroLED displays are bezel-free, which means there are no borders between modules and you can add more with the result as Samsung explains being a “stunning infinity pool effect that allows the display to elegantly blend into any living environment.”

Samsung explains that:

Featuring leading-edge self-emissive technology and modular capabilities, Samsung’s Micro LED displays deliver unparalleled picture quality, versatility and design. These transformative TV displays are made up of individual modules of self-emissive Micro LEDs, featuring millions of inorganic red, green and blue microscopic LED chips that emit their own light to produce brilliant colors on screen – delivering unmatched picture quality that surpasses any display technology currently available on the market.

The options that should become available sometime in 2020 according to reports are the 75-inch model and mammoth 219-inch model. Pricing and local availability is obviously yet to be confirmed and don’t expect the 75-inch model to be cheap at all.
