God of War Ragnarok Dev Joins Skydance on New Marvel Game

A former Santa Monica Studio developer who worked on God of War Ragnarok has now joined Amy Hennig to work on the new, untitled Marvel game from Skydance New Media. Elizabeth Wright will work as a Senior Level Designer on Hennig’s Marvel game after previously working as a Level Designer on the latest God of War title.

This isn’t the first time that Wright has worked with Hennig. Between 2017 and 2019, Wright worked with the game director on the unannounced and cancelled Star Wars game from EA and the now defunct Visceral Games. She moved to working with Santa Monica Studio sometime after, having an impressive portfolio of work that includes Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the recently released God of War Ragnarok.

Last year, Hennig unveiled the new secret Marvel project during the D23 event. Skydance New Media will be the studio leading its development. According to initial details, the game will focus on Black Panther and Captain America fighting Nazis during World War II. Other heroes are also shown but apparently it won’t feature any co-op gameplay. Instead, the game will be a story-driven action-adventure title.

Hennig’s legacy working on the Uncharted games is enough for fans to get excited about this new project and with Wright’s creative touch, it might turn out to be something special. That said, without any trailers (or official title) and the game still being in the early stages of development, we’ll likely have to wait a while to find out exactly what the team is cooking.

In related news, Santa Monica Studio finally added photo mode to God of War Ragnarok last month as part of a post-launch update. However, a large number of players already beat the game a few weeks after it released – that number has surely grown over the past few weeks with Sony reporting record sales for its action-adventure exclusive.
