Reports surrounding potential DLC for Santa Monica Studio’s award-winning action adventure game, God of War Ragnarok, first surfaced back in August. Since then, there has been whispers of the developer possibly making a “half-sequel” in the vein of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to fill in the long wait between mainline installments. This latest report claims that the DLC (or half-sequel, whatever it ends up being) will actually be announced this year.
Sources close to Spanish gaming publication Areajugones claim that the God of War Ragnarok DLC is expected to be announced before the end of the year. This could happen either through a PS Blog announcement or The Game Awards which will take place on 7 December, though it’s likely to happen at Geoff Keighley”s awards-giving ceremony since it’s the last major gaming event of 2023 – unless PlayStation announces a surprise State of Play event.

Of course, there’s also the possibility of the DLC announcement simply happening through a blog post. This year’s Horizon: Forbidden West expansion, Burning Shores, was also revealed via a simple blog update and not at an event. If the report is true, we’ll just have to wait and see how Sony goes about unveiling the new content for the game.
God of War Ragnarok launched back in November 2022 and concluded the Norse saga of Kratos and his son, Atreus, as they battle against its pantheon of gods including Thor and Odin. The ending of the game, despite bringing much-needed closure to some characters, was left wide open for a continuation and it’s possible that DLC or a half-sequel could explore a certain character’s ongoing adventure.
In related news, the High on Life DLC, High on Knife, made fun of God of War Ragnarok‘s tendency for Atreus or Freya to often blurt out the answers to puzzles mere seconds after stumbling across them.
God of War Ragnarok is now available for PS4 and PS5.
