Yesterday, Sony announced a new 20 minute PlayStation State of Play event scheduled for today, largely focusing on Japanese publishers but with updates from global studios too. According to a leaker, some western developers might skip out on showcasing their games today, and that includes God of War Ragnarok.
According to AccountNGT, who accurately leaked Star Wars Eclipse and the Forspoken delay, internal discussions at PlayStation have ultimately lead to some developers pulling out of the upcoming State of Play.

Some developers were concerned that the event would take the focus off of current world events, namely the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine. According to the leaker, those same developers who asked for the State of Play to be delayed have removed their games from the lineup.
This apparently includes PlayStation Studios titles like God of War Ragnarok and a new, unannounced Infamous game which is rumoured to be in development at Sucker Punch. If this leak is true, then we recommend adjusting your expectations for today’s show. PlayStation will reveal a few PS4 and PS5 titles, but it’s not explicitly stated that they’ll be from PlayStation Studios or first-party developers.
On a more positive note, the leaker does go on to state that it’s still possible we’ll see the highly anticipated Hogwarts Legacy at the show. However, Warner Bros. Games might have been one of the western-based developers who also chose to remove themselves from the lineup too, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
If you’re planning on staying up and watching the State of Play today, it will air at midnight in South Africa. Due to the short length of the show, we recommend keeping your expectations in check as it’s unknown exactly what we’ll see at this point.
