God of War Ragnarok developer Santa Monica Studio is hiring for a new, large-scaled project following the release of the highly anticipated PlayStation sequel. The job listings are not for Ragnarok as the game presumably enters its final stretches of development this year, meaning it’s something beyond God of War.
As spotted by GameRant, Santa Monica Studio has put up a few job ads hiring for a new massive project that isn’t God of War Ragnarok. One of the job listings is looking for an Art Director, and since Rafael Grassetti is already serving as the Art Director on Ragnarok, it’s likely for a new game entirely.

The job listing for the Art Director position reads:
“Join us as we embark on a new journey. Coordinate large teams of artists across multiple subject areas to execute on the creative promise for a large-scale new project.”
Interestingly, Santa Monica Studio has been posting job ads dating back to January 2021 that seemingly aren’t related to God of War Ragnarok. This means that they may have another unannounced AAA game or multiple unannounced projects in development at the studio, One previous job listing hints at someone looking for experience in designing “fantasy-based” worlds.
2018’s God of War director Cory Barlog stepped back from directing Ragnarok, though many presume that it’s because he’s working on another project entirely. Eric Williams was promoted to director of the upcoming God of War sequel.
PlayStation Studios has been doubling down on several blockbuster games from their various international first-party developers. Insomniac Games is currently working on both Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine, while Sucker Punch Productions is rumoured to be working on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.
Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West is around the corner from launch, though previous job ads suggest that they’re also working on some kind of multiplayer RPG.
God of War Ragnarok is expected to release sometime in 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
