Ray’s breathrough role in Martin Scorsese’s 1990 film Goodfellas cemented his actor career where he went on to star in a host of films and TV shows. Ray also voiced GTA: Vice City protagonist Tommy Vercetti – one of the most iconic GTA protagonists to date.

Ray starred in shows such as ER, Casablanca, Apple’s latest Black Bird, and a long list of other critically acclaimed titles. His prolific movie career included iconic roles in Field of Dreams, Hannibal, and Cop Land. Ray has worked with some of the industry’s biggest names across a list of different genres, including Robert de Niro, Joe Pesci, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lorraine Bracco, and Anthony Hopkins, to name a few.

Ray was engaged to be married to fiance Jacy Nittolo, who was with him in the Dominican Republic when he passed. He is also survived by his daughter Karsen Liotta. Lorraine Bracco, who portrayed Ray Liotta’s character’s wife in Goodfellas, said she was “utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray”.

“I can be anywhere in the world and people will come up and tell me their favourite movie is Goodfellas.

Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same…Ray Liotta.”

In 2016, Liotta stated that he had some regrets about the course of his career and wished he had handled some moments in his career differently. Ray stated that he wished he has auditioned for Tim Burton’s Batman.

“I wish I’d handled my career differently but, you know, hindsight…

When I did my first movie, Tim Burton was getting ready to do Batman, and he was interested in me because he wanted it to be edgy and real.

I thought, ‘Batman? That’s a stupid idea,’ even though he had just done one of my favourite movies of all time, Beetlejuice. So, yes, I regret not auditioning for that.”

Liotta also said that he was always happy that Goodfellas is what he is mostly remembered for, along with Field of Dreams.

“People ask if I’m bothered by that, but no, Goodfellas will be a top 10 movie for years and years, it seems

I have kids coming up to me like the movie’s just come out that week… That and Field Of Dreams. I get a lot of Field Of Dreams lovers too.”

We send our sincerest condolences to friends and family of the Liotta family during this time.
