The first 16 minutes of Gotham Knights has surfaced online. Developer Warner Bros. Montreal showcased the opening segments of the game (via IGN), which acts as a basic tutorial of the various gameplay mechanics related to your chosen character. The gameplay highlights Batgirl in the opening sequence, which revolves around the group infiltrating the GCPD.
Players begin by choosing from one of four playable characters: Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin. From here, we’re led across rooftops to traverse the environment and stealthily take down some enemies. Two-player co-op will allow a friend to hop into the action as another character.

Gotham Knights takes place in a standalone universe not attached to Rocksteady’s Arkham series. Following the apparent death of Bruce Wayne, the extended Bat family bands together to protect Gotham from a rising underworld power known as the Court of Owls and a deeper mystery brewing in the city.
Warner Bros. Montreal previously developed Batman: Arkham Origins, so this marks the studio’s second attempt at a DC property.
The official description for Gotham Knights reads:
“Batman is dead. A new expansive, criminal underworld has swept the streets of Gotham City. It is now up to the Batman Family; Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin; to protect Gotham, bring hope to its citizens, discipline to its cops, and fear to its criminals. From solving mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history to defeating notorious villains in epic confrontations, you must evolve into the new Dark Knight and save the streets from descent into chaos.
Gotham Knights is an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. In either solo-play or with one other hero, patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.”
Gotham Knights releases on 25 October 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Watch the first 16 minutes of gameplay below.
