Gotham Knights Review

Gotham Knights Gets ESRB Rating for Nintendo Switch

Gotham Knights, the 2022 open-world superhero game from developer Warner Bros. Montreal, has received a new rating from the Entertainment and Software Ratings Board (ESRB) for Nintendo Switch, suggesting that it will be heading to Nintendo’s platform. This follows rumours of a new Nintendo Direct event taking place soon which is where we’ll likely see Gotham Knights get an official announcement.

Gotham Knights originally launched for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC last year and now it looks like it might be heading to Nintendo Switch as well. The game received a mixed reception at launch with most criticism aimed at its technical issues, bugs and underwhelming story and writing. However, its combat and exploration was praised as it stuck close to the formula already established by Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham games, despite not being directly linked to that universe.

On that note, the Batman Arkham Trilogy will launch on Nintendo Switch this October and contains Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight plus all additional DLC so Nintendo players will have more than their fill of Batman-related games soon.

Warner Bros. Montreal previously cancelled its planned PS4 and Xbox One versions of Gotham Knights before launch so it will be interesting to see what concessions were made to get the game running on Nintendo Switch. That isn’t the only upcoming game published by Warner Bros. Games to launch on Nintendo Switch, though, as Mortal Kombat 1 will also be heading to Nintendo’s console at launch later this month.

As for the Nintendo Direct reports, rumours have been circulating online since last week suggesting that the company will host a new event sometime this week, though none of them have been exactly credible. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire and we won’t have to wait long to find out if these reports turn out to be true or not.

Gotham Knights is currently available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
