Gotham Knights Showcases Robin in New Character Trailer

Warner Bros. Games and developer Warner Bros. Montreal have released a new character trailer for Gotham Knights, this time focusing on gameplay for Robin. As the plot goes, Bruce Wayne/Batman is seemingly dead, leaving the extended Batfamily consisting of Red Hood, Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing to combat the mysterious villains, the Court of Owls.

In the latest character trailer for Gotham Knights, Robin is highlighted showing some of his signature combat moves and a variety of techniques he can use to level the playing field. Coming equipped with his staff, Robin is capable of deflecting bullets and teleporting using some advanced satellite technology, closing large gaps between enemies in a short time.

We also get a look at some of the various costumes Robin will be able to wear in Gotham Knights and they all look fantastic. If you want to avoid direct combat, Robin – like all the playable characters in the game – is able to stealthily take down enemies from afar. It’s one of the staples of Rocksteady’s Arkham games and we’re glad to see it in full effect in Gotham Knights too.

Gotham Knights received some criticism from fans when it debuted some new gameplay footage earlier this year highlighting Nightwing and Red Hood. The combat, which is essential in making a great Batman game today, was described as looking floaty and weightless. Hopefully WB Montreal returned to the drawing board and made some adjustments to the gameplay to give it more impact.

That said, Robin looks awesome in motion and a step up from Nightwing and Red Hood’s divisive animations and combat. That only leaves Batgirl as the final member of the group to receive a proper deep dive into her combat and techniques, which we’ll surely get before the game launches later this year.

Gotham Knights launches on 25 October 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
