WB Games Montreal, the developers behind Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, is reportedly working on a new DC comics game. This follows a report from back in November 2022 that claimed the studio was working on a multiplayer DC game, though we aren’t sure if these two reports are connected yet.
As spotted by Reddit user Sefexir, a new job listing at WB Games Montreal seeking a Senior Producer mentions in the job description that they would be working on a new AAA game set in the DC universe. “WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) is looking for a Senior Producer to join its Game Development team, working on AAA titles set in the DC Comics Universe,” reads the job description. “As a Senior Producer, you will oversee all phases and teams of development of a single project, from the concept phase through its release.”
Sefexir speculates that the project is still very early in pre-production based on the job opening. As mentioned before, job listings that popped up on WB Games Montreal’s website in November 2022 requested roles that had experience working on multiplayer games as well.
Another report from March this year suggested that WB Games Montreal had stepped in to assist Monolith Productions with the development of its Wonder Woman game, which we know will be a single-player experience. However, the latest job listing suggests that the DC game the studio is working on isn’t linked to Wonder Woman and could be based on another property from the expansive line-up of stories and characters under the comic book label.
Gotham Knights released in 2022 to mixed reviews. Some critics and fans praised the visuals and various unlockable comic-accurate outfits while others weren’t kind to the game’s story, writing and underwhelming combat, especially following in the shadow of the Batman: Arkham games.
