If you’re a fan of the Gran Turismo series then you probably know about the Scapes feature. This mode in the game lets players take their owned cars into specific scenes and photograph them in all sorts of awesome ways. It has been a staple in the racing franchise for a while now and Gran Turismo 7 is going to expand on this even more.

In a new trailer, Sony has detailed the behind-the-scenes of the Gran Turismo 7 Scapes mode showing players how the photographs were taken for the environments.

The Scapes mode allows you to take the cars you own and place them in an environment. The car then adapts to the LUT in the scene, the lighting is tweaked according to the source and the general reflection on the paint changes to the photographed area. As a result, the photos you can take in the mode represent an almost true-to-life scenario.

Anyone who loves snapping photos in games will find this mode helpful to create fantastic wallpapers and images to share on social media. Sure, it is not as interactive as say, the Forza Horizon 5 photo mode (check our photos here) but it should provide a unique approach compared to other racing games.

Gran Turismo 7 is out on 4 March 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
