Gran Turismo 7 State of Play Announced for 2 February

PlayStation has announced a new State of Play coming Wednesday, 2 February. The event will focus on Gran Turismo 7, the upcoming anticipated racing simulator from developer Polyphony Digital.

PlayStation revealed on a new blog post that their next State of Play will give the spotlight to Gran Turismo 7, featuring around 30 minutes of PS5 footage for the upcoming racer. The event promises an in-depth look at the game’s modes and features ahead of its 4 March release for PS4 and PS5.

Beyond that, PlayStation didn’t reveal any new information, though Gran Turismo fans will be very happy to know that the publisher isn’t taking the marketing for Gran Turismo 7 lightly. Due to its long history on PlayStation consoles, the Gran Turismo series remains one of the company’s biggest IPs, and an entire State of Play dedicated to the new entry is great news.

PlayStation revealed the State of Play times (airs at midnight SAST):

“The first 2022 State of Play arrives later this week, and we’re all revved up for just over 30 minutes of new PS5 footage and gameplay details for Gran Turismo 7. Watch live February 2nd on Twitch or YouTube starting 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 11:00pm CET.”

Unfortunately, this means that we’ll have to wait a little while longer for another PlayStation event dedicated to other upcoming releases. Anticipated games like God of War Ragnarok and Ghostwire: Tokyo still do not have release dates, despite both launching sometime in 2022.

Gran Turismo 7 was first announced at a PlayStation event in 2020. Many expected it to release as a PS5 launch title, but it went through several delays over the months before landing on its current release date. Thankfully, it will be a cross-generation release too, coming to both PS4 and PS5 on 4 March 2022.
