During the Take-Two financial conference call last night, the company revealed some new milestone sales records for two of its biggest games on the market Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed the popular western game has hit 25 million units shipped as of 30 June 2019. As for Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar has managed to ship 110 million units.
Back in May, the publisher revealed it was close to hitting the 110 million unit milestone and at the end of June, that number was hit. GTA V released way back in 2013 so it has taken six years to hit that landmark sale figure and a lot of it has to do with the fact it released on both last-gen and current hardware.
As for Red Dead Redemption 2, its sales figures are not half bad. When comparing it to the original which sold only sold 15 million units, the sequel has already surpassed that number less than a year after release.
Both titles owe their fame to the online modes which Rockstar keeps up-to-date with new content. GTA V just received its Diamond Casino content update that added an online casino into the game. Unfortunately, this said update does not work in South Africa due to online gambling laws.
According to reports, Rockstar is currently working on porting Red Dead Redemption 2 to PC as well as working on a next-gen port of the game. If both of these are true, it would not be surprising at all.
