Grump Cat has filled our lives with laughter and love over the past few years after becoming an internet phenomenon thanks to her “grumpy cat” memes. Tardar Sauce passed away at the age of 7 after falling ill with a urinary tract infection that was “too tough to overcome”.
Her owners announced the passing on Twitter this morning saying that it happened earlier this week. Grumpy Cat became famous in 2012 when a picture went viral of her extremely unhappy face that everyone just fell in love with. It turned out that her grumpy facial expression was actually natural to her due to a deformity.

Tardar Sauce was also born with feline dwarfism which made her very, very small and gave her an underbite. All this resulted in the iconic grumpy look that we all loved.
It is truly heartbreaking indeed as Tardar Sauce has filled everyone’s lives with happiness at some point in time and she is a legend. Passing at the age of 7 is very young for a cat but given her birth defects, it would no doubt cause growing issues throughout her life.
