The reveal trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 dropped online a little earlier than planned due to the fact that it somehow managed to get leaked ahead of time. According to several developers at Rockstar Games, this wasn’t how they planned to celebrate the trailer’s launch but are grateful nonetheless to see the overwhelming positive reception from the gaming industry and community for GTA 6.
“This fucking sucks,” wrote Senior gameplay animator Javier Altman on Twitter/X. “I was hoping to watch this for the first time tomorrow along with my fellow teammates and coworkers. I feel we deserved that moment. I’m so proud of what we are making. Enjoy the trailer, everyone.” Associate principal animator Amy Hartley also chipped in, “Little bit earlier than expected, but here it is folks! So proud of everyone working on this game, it’s going to be amazing.”

This isn’t the first time that Rockstar Games has been hit with a major leak regarding GTA 6. Last year, several early development clips of the game leaked online in a massive security breach, prompting Rocktar to swiftly respond with a statement saying that the company will reveal the game when it is ready. The hacking group behind last year’s leak were taken to court, though a teen member of the group was deemed psychiatrically unfit to stand trial.

Rockstar Games has confirmed that GTA 6 will launch in 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, though no PC version was mentioned, suggesting that it will likely see a PC release at a later date.
GTA 6 returns to the Miami-inspired location of Vice City and follows dual protagonists in Lucia and Jason. The city is vibrant, dense and filled with Rockstar’s trademark social satire that fans have come to love about the studio.
