Publisher Take-Two Interactive says Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track to launch in fall 2025. This follows previous reports that the highly anticipated title had potentially been delayed out of next year. It turns out those rumours were unfounded as fans can now rest easy knowing, for the most part, that GTA 6 is still on schedule.
Speaking at an investor’s conference yesterday, Take-Two Interactive discussed its two biggest upcoming projects: GTA 6 and Borderlands 4. The company stated that both games will not launch close to each other, so we can expect some space between the releases of both major games. In the same report, Take-Two also doubled down on GTA 6‘s planned fall 2025 release window, shutting down older rumours that the game might’ve been delayed internally.
Elsewhere in the conference, Take-Two Interactive confirmed that GTA V had now sold 205 million copies with 5 million copies being sold in the last quarter alone. Red Dead Redemption 2 has also managed to sell 67 million copies, with series sales passing 92 million units sold. Furthermore, GTA+ subscriptions increased 35% year-over-year last quarter.
Take-Two seems confident that Rockstar Games will still deliver GTA 6 on time without any possible delay. Of course, it’s hard to know how far along the game’s development is at this stage considering it has been in the works for at least half a decade. With mounting pressure to deliver on what analysts are calling ‘the most important game to ever release in the industry’, we don’t envy Rockstar Games.
Interestingly, Take-Two also mentioned in the conference call with investors that “several popular franchises are actively in development for new sequels.” This led some fans to speculate that the next BioShock game is still on the table alongside other surprise sequels that the publisher has yet to officially announce.
GTA 6 will release in fall 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
