Grand Theft Auto 6 rumours continue to swirl around the gaming sphere, and the latest revolves around developer Rockstar Games’ supposed plans for this generation. According to a leaker, GTA 6 might be the only “new” release from the company for this gen, as it’s possible they’ll lean into remakes or remasters.
According to AccountNGT, who recently leaked Quantic Dream supposedly working on a medieval fantasy title, Rockstar’s only release this generation in terms of new games might be GTA 6 and nothing else apart from remakes or remasters. This also comes in light of reports that Bully 2 was supposed to be announced at The Game Awards last year and might still be coming, though Tom Henderson is a bit more reliable as a leaker.
As for what Rockstar might be working on outside of GTA 6, the rumour is Bully 2 was reignited in development and might still be on its way. If this is the case, then it will contradict AccountNGT’s claim that GTA 6 will be the only “new” game from Rockstar Games for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S generation. As with all rumours, we recommend taking this with a grain of salt for now.
Previous reports also suggest that Rockstar are planning to remake or remaster the original Red Dead Redemption for current consoles. Take-Two’s recent massive acquisition of mobile company Zynga may yield some interesting results, as Rockstar’s parent company plans to move some of their biggest IPs to mobile, which includes the likes of Grand Theft Auto and even Midnight Club.
GTA 6 may still be a very long way off from release though, with Rockstar leaning on another re-release of GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. As it stands, there doesn’t seem to be any rush for Rockstar to make GTA 6 either, as GTA Online continues to be a massive source of revenue for Take-Two and the developer.
