Development on Grand Theft Auto 6 might be speeding up with a reveal possibly coming later this year. According to a leaker, GTA 6 has reached a major milestone internally at Rockstar Games and development is coming along very well. However, they don’t expect the game arrive before the end of 2024.
According to Chris Klippel, an “important step in the development” of GTA 6 has been reached at Rockstar Games, and it’s possible we’ll see a reveal happen by the end of 2022. They go on to state that they don’t expect to see the game release before the end of 2024, though this is good news as it’s closer than we initially thought.

Klippel’s full statement (translated to English) on GTA 6‘s development reads:
“An important step in the development of GTA6 has just been reached. Things should speed up (internally at Rockstar). I think that a (real) announcement at the end of the year may be possible. In any case, I don’t see the game arriving before the end of 2024!”
Earlier this year, Rockstar Games and their parent company Take-Two Interactive outright confirmed that GTA 6 is actively in development, though stopped shy of offering any more details.
If GTA 6 releases by the end of 2024, then it would’ve been 11 years since the release of the last entry, GTA V, which released back in 2013 and then rereleased several times across multiple generations.
Fans are speculating that GTA 6 will jet off to a familiar location in Vice City, albeit far more expanded than the original game’s map. Given the popularity of GTA Online, we imagine that multiplayer and another iteration of Online will be a big focus for Rockstar Games in the next entry.
Meanwhile, GTA V has received PS5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrades in yet another rerelease.
