After years of speculation and long-winded rumours, it seems like GTA 6 might actually be revealed this week. The source this time is a very reputable source: Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier who is well-known for accurate insider information and leaks. According to Schreier, Rockstar Games will officially announce Grand Theft Auto 6 this week but the first trailer is only expected to drop next month to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
Sources close to Jason Schreier say that GTA 6 will be announced sometime this week, at least in typical Rockstar Games fashion which means we should expect a simple blog post for the announcement. A trailer for the game will arrive next month in time for Grand Theft Auto‘s 25th anniversary. All signs seem to point to The Game Awards on 7 December, the last major gaming event of the year where a reveal of this scale could potentially happen.

An excerpt from Schreier’s article talking about Rockstar’s plans to reveal GTA 6 this week notes:
“The company plans to then publish a trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI next month to celebrate Rockstar’s 25th anniversary, said the people, who asked to not be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly.”
This might be the first GTA 6 leak that actually comes from a credible source, as Schreier has been known for his highly accurate leaks in the past. Previous reports have often led nowhere so it’s good to hear something possibly concrete.
That said, fans already know more or less what to expect from some systems, mechanics and story details for GTA 6 following the massive breach that took place last year which spilled hundreds of in-development footage and images of the game’s early build. A group of hackers were swiftly arrested after the incident but the teen hacker believed to have led the leak was deemed psychiatrically unfit to stand trial earlier this year.
