Take-Two Interactive has narrowed the release window for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 from a general 2025 window to fall 2025, meaning it will likely release between September-November next year. This lines up with most of the major releases from developer Rockstar Games in the past which have all launched in the fall window, including Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V. GTA 6 looks like it’s set to continue that trend.
Speaking in a recent earnings call, Take-Two stated, “Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto 6,” confirming its new release window.
With the summer lineup of major gaming events on the horizon, fans are setting their sights on one of the showcases for another look at GTA 6. Unfortunately if history has dictated anything, Rockstar Games tends to do its own thing outside of gaming events, so there’s little to no chance that the game will make any sort of appearance at upcoming events like Summer Game Fest or the Xbox Showcase.
GTA 6 is the sixth mainline installment in the long-running Grand Theft Auto franchise and the follow-up to 2013’s GTA V. Set in the fictional Vice City, players will take on the roles of a Bonnie and Clyde-inspired duo, Jason and Lucia, as they seek a better life through crime. Little is known about the plot beyond what was shown in the reveal trailer, though we can hopefully expect more information to arrive before the end of the year.
In related news, Rockstar Games is doubling down on the development of GTA 6 as it issued a return to office mandate for all employees back in February. Veteran voice actor Troy Baker has also confirmed that he will not be voicing the male protagonist, Jason, after fan theories emerged following the reveal trailer’s release.
GTA 6 launches in fall 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
