GTA 6 Trailer 2 Gameplay Cutscenes Rockstar Games

GTA 6 Trailer 2 Was ‘Equal Parts Gameplay and Cutscenes’ Says Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games recently released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which was primarily focused on protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. As expected, the trailer quickly climbed to become one of the most watched video game trailers ever, currently sitting at 83 million views on YouTube in just a day. However, many wondered if what they were seeing in the GTA 6 footage was all cutscenes or also a bit of gameplay sprinkled in. Rockstar has confirmed that it was a mix of both.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes,” said Rockstar Games in a post on X yesterday. Interestingly, all the footage shown was running on a base PS5 (no mention of PS5 Pro), which is insanely impressive considering how stunning the visuals look.

It’s difficult to discern what exactly is gameplay and what’s a cutscene in the trailer – that says a lot about the kind of polished experience we’re in for from Rockstar. That said, it might be a while until we actually get to see some concrete gameplay. GTA 6 was recently pushed out of its fall 2025 window and delayed to May 2026. On the bright side, at least we got an official release date, though it’s not the one players might’ve been expecting.

Rockstar Games stated that it will use that extra development time to work on GTA 6, smoothing out bugs and testing it so that it’s ready for launch. If it aims to bring the quality of the game up to the studio’s usual standards (while avoiding crunch), it can only be a good thing.

GTA 6 launches on 26 May 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. As of writing, there’s no word yet on when players can expect a PC release of the game but some speculate that, thanks to the delay, it might arrive much sooner rather than later.
