Rockstar Games recently announced that the first trailer for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive tomorrow on 5 December. The news was uploaded to X (formerly known as Twitter) with a stylish image. Since the post’s upload, it has since gone on to become the most-liked gaming post in X’s history – and that’s just the announcement for the GTA 6 trailer.
As of writing, the GTA 6 tweet by Rockstar Games currently sits at over 150 million views with 1.9 million likes and 489K retweets/quotes. Companies such as Opera GX, Spotify, Sony, Chess.com and Razer (among many others) commented on the post which only helped its massive reach.

Needless to say, the anticipation for GTA 6 is astronomical and unprecedented for the gaming industry, with some pointing out that they haven’t seen this amount of hype since Rockstar launched Red Dead Redemption 2 back in 2018.

Given the fact that GTA V is the most financially successful single entertainment product in history, sitting at well over 185 million copies sold as of August 2022, it’s no surprise that GTA 6 seems to be getting a lot of attention. The trailer is expected to drop tomorrow and we can’t imagine how many views and records it will break. Hopefully it’s accompanied by a release date or release window – previous reports speculate that it could arrive as soon as next year.
In related news, the announcement (or build-up) of GTA 6 has caused publisher Take-Two Interactive’s shares to skyrocket. The game was the subject of a massive leak last year that saw hundreds of early development gameplay clips spread online. Rockstar Games has done it’s best to prevent the clips from spreading ahead of the official reveal this week, though that seemingly hasn’t stopped others from quietly leaking the videos in corners of the internet.
