Publisher Take-Two Interactive remains firm on its stance that Grand Theft Auto 6 will not face any delays and will be ready for its fall 2025 release. However, there’s a good reason why Rockstar Games hasn’t shared a second trailer or any new details yet. According to Take-Two, GTA 6 will only receive news closer to its release window in order to maintain the high level of anticipation for the game.
Speaking with Bloomberg during a recent interview, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke a bit about why we haven’t received a new trailer or any new information regarding GTA 6 yet. He answered pretty candidly, stating that they want to maintain the current level of hype and anticipation leading up to its release. Unfortunately, this also means that we won’t get any of the juicy details or another look at the game until it’s close to launch.
Zelnick stated:
“The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property, and I’ve been around the block a few times, and I’ve been in every entertainment business there is. And we want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement. We do have competitors who will describe their release schedule for years in advance, and we’ve found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand, and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation. We don’t always get it exactly right, but that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Last week, reports surfaced that several unnamed publishers were waiting for Rockstar Games to announce the release date for GTA 6 before committing to release dates for their own titles. This is to avoid any potential clash with the anticipated open-world game as it could hinder sales for any competitors within that window.
GTA 6 will launch in fall 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
