While many of you think Rockstar is super-busy working on GTA VI, it seems that may not be the case. Instead, Take-Two and Rockstar are hard at work prepping GTA V and GTA Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles. Why? So they can sell it to you again for the third time. If you plan on buying the game again then you are in for a treat. According to Take-Two, the next-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Online will come packaged with a number of technical improvements which make it “more responsive.”

It is unclear what “more responsive” means. However, it could be visual tweaks to the frame rate, greater use of the controller and of course, getting rid of those terrible load times.
In addition to the upgrades, Take-Two claims the game will get additional content exclusive to the new consoles…. and PC. The new content is set to arrive in 2021. The company offered no details on what players can expect. Of course, it is a no-brainer that releasing a seven-year-old for the third time cannot just release with no new content. It makes sense that Rockstar is working on stuff for players to do. Perhaps its new heists? Maybe some new cars and game modes?
Just don’t expect any single-player content. However, it goes without saying that the single-player mode will benefit from some visual tweaks. These may arrive in the form of resolution boosts, frame rate buffs and of course, instant loading. As for story content, there’s no chance of that happening.
When can you play all this? Well, we know the GTA Online is launching for PS5 as a free standalone mode close to the console launch. However, GTA V for Xbox Series X and PS5 including the story mode and new content might only release midway through 2021. Users should be able to play the current versions of the game through backwards compatibility for the time being.
