Rockstar has continued to rake in the dough with GTA V. During the latest Take-Two financial call, the publisher boasted a new milestone for the series. Take-Two says that GTA V has sold over 165 million copies across PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. In addition, Red Dead Redemption 2 has moved over 44 million copies since its launch.
While these GTA V sale numbers are high, we need to keep in mind that Rockstar has released GTA V across three generations of consoles now so it is expected to be high. Historically, the Grand Theft Auto series has now shipped 375 million units cumulatively and Red Dead is sitting at 67 million. Given that Red Dead Redemption 2 has contributed 44 million to that number just goes to show how popular the latest release was for Take-Two.

But even though Rockstar has ported GTA V to three generations of consoles, the series is known to sell like hotcakes. GTA V has been the best-selling game for over 10 years now in the United States and Red Dead Redemption 2 is the 2nd best-selling game.
Take-Two is also pleased with sales for Borderlands 3. The publisher confirmed that it has shipped 15 million units to date and the franchise is now sitting at 75 million.
It is just a matter of time before Rockstar announces its new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA VI. The developer confirmed the game is now currently in development. There are also rumours of a Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in the works.
