Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Gets First Trailer and Poster

The first trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 from director James Gunn has arrived alongside a brand new poster. The MCU film continues the adventures of the Guardians but it looks like we’re getting some much-needed backstory for specific characters, namely Rocket Raccoon, which is fantastic.

The trailer seemingly dials back the jokes that we’re used to seeing in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Apart from a great gag at the beginning of the trailer involving Drax, everything else suggests that it will be a much more dramatic movie this time around. It looks like we’re also getting a look into Rocket Raccoon’s past before the experiments altered his body.

More importantly, we also have our first look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, who is drenched in gold that resembles the comic book counterpart. However, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be the main “villain” in the movie. That might go to The High Evolutionary played by The Split actor Chukwudi Iwuji.

In addition the trailer, Marvel Studios also released the first poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which you can view below:

This will likely be James Gunn’s last movie for Marvel Studios as he was recently assigned to co-lead DC Studios and all future projects on that front. Warner Bros. Discovery went through a few drastic changes that saw several movies and TV shows, including Batgirl and a planned Supergirl movie, canned. Gunn will be tasked with bringing everything back on track, which is a tall order but one the filmmaker seems quite enthusiastic about.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will release on 5 May 2023 in cinemas. It will see the return of stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper (as the voice of Rocket Raccoon) and Vin Diesel (as the voice of Groot). Check out the trailer below.
