Guilty Gear Strive Gets Permanent Price Reduction on PS4 and PS5

The PlayStation Store has permanently reduced the price of Arc System Works’ fighting game, Guilty Gear Strive. Originally priced at $60, the game now costs only $40 or R719 in South Africa, allowing more players to experience 2021’s award-winning fighter on PS4 and PS5.

If you head over to the PlayStation Store now, you’ll notice a permanent price reduction on Guilty Gear Strive for both PS4 and PS5. This is great news for fans hoping to get their hands on the newest Guilty Gear game, which was one of the main headliners for the recent Evo 2022 fighting game championships.

Guilty Gear Strive originally launched on 11 June 2021 for PS4, PS5, PC and arcades. It was praised for its revitalisation of the series, shifting it to more mainstream audiences while also retaining its stylish, high-octane action and gameplay. It went on to win Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards last year – an accolade well-deserved.

When Guilty Gear Strive launched, we called it “a compelling fighting game” with great combat and animation, but its lack of content made it a tough sell:

“While 15 fighters is a bit low and they are obviously selling a season pass here too, Guilty Gear Strive is a fun and much-needed entry in the series. The combat feels great and small tweaks go a long way to deliver a compelling fighting game. I do wish there were more things to do other than multiplayer. The story mode is a movie and the mission tutorials grow old very quick.”

Developer Arc System Works is currently working on new projects which will also likely be fighters. The studio’s other massive fighter, Dragon Ball FighterZ, also remains one of the most popular fighting games on the market thanks to its stellar gameplay and plethora of DLC.

Guilty Gear Strive is currently available for PS4, PS5 and PC.
