Happy Holidays From GLITCHED – We’re Going Into Rest Mode

As we head into the last weeks of the year, GLITCHED will be slowing down until the 6th of January. Should anything major happen, don’t worry because we’ll see it and cover it ASAP.

It has been a great year for the platform, and I personally want to thank everyone who visits the site for their continued support. GLITCHED continues to be the best and biggest local source for gaming, tech, and geek news, and going into 2025, that won’t change.

I have always put the South African voice in front of everything else on the platform. It is important to keep you updated on local and relatable news and content. When games are on sale, you see the prices in Rands. When consoles are delayed (cough cough PS5 Pro), you get the local release dates. The South African gaming industry is incredibly important to me, and without it, we would not exist.

2024 was a strange year. It sort of felt like a “transition” year for tech as brands went silent for longer periods of time before unveiling new products. When this did happen, we had an overwhelming amount of new tech head our way. AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm all came out with new notebook chips, all of which pushed Copilot+ and AI. Not to mention all the new desktop CPUs and components.

We also spent the entire of 2024 with the same NVIDIA 40-Series GPUs. Although that is about to change as the 50-Series is just a few weeks away. I think PC gaming is going to be very exciting in 2025 as we usher in the next generation of graphics cards and push the limits on what is possible on PC.

We then have console gaming. I won’t lie, 2024 wasn’t the strongest year for gaming, but there were some fun titles. Black Myth: Wukong dominated Steam charts, Astro Bot won Game of the Year, and let’s not forget the most hilarious game of the year – Concord. To think that we witnessed Sony release and cancel a game in the span of a few weeks is crazy.

2024 also marked some of the biggest industry shake-ups we have seen to date. The number of lay offs and studio closures were scary. Not only in gaming but also in tech.

Of course, 2025 is Nintendo’s year. We were hoping it would have been 2024, but the Switch 2 was inevitably delayed to 2025. I think by the end of March, we will all be playing on the new console, and I can’t describe how excited I am for it. Just think about all the games, accessories, and cool stuff coming our way. I don’t think there is anything as exciting as a new console launch in the industry.

To wrap this up, I want to say thank you to all the people that help make the platform what it is. Thanks to the brands that support us with products, games, and advertising. Thank you to Sam Aberdeen for always being around to produce content. Thank you to Nexus Media for being a vital pillar of support for the platform too. Thank you to all the readers, followers, and subscribers for sticking around.

See you in 2025….
