The Harry Potter book series is one of the most popular stories in modern history. It has spawned countless businesses including clothing, toys, video games and of course the movie series including Fantastic Beasts and the Harry Potter films. The book series, which includes seven releases have sold over 500 million copies worldwide and the eight films have grossed over $8 billion. There’s no stopping it and now, according to sources, there’s a Harry Potter live-action TV series in the works at HBO Max too.
According to Variety, HBO Max and Warner Bros are currently in early planning stages for this Harry Potter TV series. While very little is known about the show at the moment, the move is to develop a series based within the Harry Potter world. When and where? We don’t know just yet.
However, HBO Max and Warner Bros are trying hard to keep the show under wraps. After the news leaked online, the two companies responded to Variety denying the existence of the show saying:
“There are no Harry Potter series in development at the studio or on the streaming platform,”
Variety claims that even though HBO Max and Warner Bros deny the show’s development, multiple sources have confirmed it exists. The outlet claims that there are currently no writers or talent attached to the project at this current stage. However, the studios have previously held conversations with multiple writers in relation to the project.
It is nice to see Warner Bros and HBO Max expanding the Harry Potter series into a TV adaption. With a video game on its way, which was just recently pushed into 2022, it will soon be an exciting time to be a Harry Potter head.
