HBO has released the first posters and teaser trailer for season 2 of its live-action adaptation of The Last of Us. The second season aims to adapt the second game in the franchise, The Last of Us Part II. The teaser released yesterday shows a pretty faithful adaptation which is looking like another hole-in-one.
HBO dropped the first posters for The Last of Us season 2 (seen below) showing Joel and Ellie in beautiful black and white portraits. Ellie’s angry facial expression is reminiscent of her video game counterpart while Joel’s solemn expression is fitting for the season’s big twists and turns.
In addition to the posters, HBO also released the first teaser trailer for season 2 of The Last of Us, showing several familiar scenes from the second video game replicated in live-action format. We also get our first glimpse at Kaitlyn Dever as Abby for a few shots.

The series stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess and Nick Offerman as Bill. Season 2 will star Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse and Isabela Merced as Dina.
The plot description for the series reads:
“20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed, Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.”
Season 2 of The Last of Us will air sometime in early 2025. In case you missed it, check out the previous teaser trailer that HBO released for the show back in August. Watch the latest teaser trailer for the second season below:
