Nacon has announced that the company will be publishing Rogue Factor’s newest game called Hell is Us. The game is being developed by former Eidos Montreal Art Director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête. Jacques-Belletête has joined the project as creative director after working on games such as Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. He also worked on concepts for other titles including Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Nacon says that Hell is Us is an action-adventure game. It is based in a fictional country in the middle of a civil war. The main character will fight creatures that have been born from a mysterious event locals call “The Calamity”.

The main character wields special weapons and equipment which he uses to fight off these creatures. Hell is Us also relies heavily on exploration but Rogue Factor says that the game won’t hold your hand when it comes to exploring and finding things to do. Instead, the studio wants players to be given the freedom to explore the map the way they want to. There won’t be a detailed quest log or precise waypoints to follow. Players will be guided by their feelings and instincts to explore what they see around them.
“In an isolated country ravaged by civil war, uncover the secrets of your past and confront the mysterious disaster that has struck the region. Embark on a true adventure that explores the dark side of human nature.”
Hell is Us marks the first game from Rogue Factor since the studio was bought out by Nacon. CEO Alain Falc says that the project is a large and ambitious one but the original idea will offer an exciting experience for players.
“We are delighted to be able to finally announce this game,. As a publisher, we always want to offer games with original ideas that will appeal to as many people as possible. The first game from Rogue Factor since we acquired it is also one of our most ambitious projects, and we can’t wait to reveal more about it in the coming months.”
Hell is Us is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC and is scheduled to release sometime in 2023. The game is being built on Unreal Engine 5. You can follow the studio’s developments on Twitter if you are interested. Take a look at the teaser trailer down below.
