Hellblade 2

Hellblade 2 Resolution Sits Around 964p and 1070p on Xbox Series X at 30FPS

Helldblade 2 is the next highly anticipated game of the year and so far, it aims to be the “Alan Wake 2” of 2024. This means its Unreal Engine 5 tech will stress test your PC and give the Xbox Series X/S a run for its money. There’s already been quite a lot of controversy online regarding the game’s 30FPS cap on Xbox Series X. We recently compared it to other UE 5 games which also struggle on current-gen hardware. By the look of things, Hellblade 2’s performance will match, if not be better than some current UE5 games.

According to a new report from Digital Foundry, Hellblade 2’s resolution has been revealed thanks to the latest gameplay footage. The tech team says the game will run between 964p and 1070p on Xbox Series X. Keep in mind that Helldblade 2 adopts a letterbox cinematic game style so this resolution would typically be 1296p and 1440p.

1440p resolution on an Unreal Engine 5 game isn’t surprising. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth runs at 1152p on PS5 when playing on Quality Mode. Immortals of Aveum, another UE 5 showcase title, struggled to achieve 720p on PS5 and Xbox Series X at 60FPS. Hellblade 2 is actually running a lot better than many expected.

Of course, the bigger question now is how Hellblade 2 runs on Xbox Series S. The console will likely achieve 720p at 30FPS given the current resolution on the more powerful Xbox Series X. Digital Foundry doesn’t comment on this as the footage they received was captured on Xbox Series X. However, with the game launching on 21 May, we will soon see how it holds up on the smaller console.
