Helldivers 2 Goes Gold Ahead of February Launch

Helldivers 2 has wrapped up development ahead of its 8 February release date. The upcoming alien shooter developed by Arrowhead Studios is set to launch on PS5 and PC next month and the studio confirmed last night that the game has gone gold.

If you don’t know, “going gold” in the video game world means that the final build of a game has been compiled and it is now being seeded to manufacturing for physical distribution and to servers for online databases. Usually, this process takes a few weeks to complete which is why games must go gold way before the street date.

Helldivers 2 launches on 8 February and pre-orders are now open. You’ll likely be able to pre-load the game closer to its launch if you purchase the game from the PlayStation Store or Steam.

We have covered Helldivers 2 quite a lot over the past few weeks including the official PC system requirements, pre-order details and the latest launch trailer. The game follows players as they cause complete chaos and destruction while trying to fend off aliens and robot armies who have invaded a planet.

Helldivers 2 was originally meant to launch in 2023 but it was suddenly delayed into 2024. We are only a few weeks away now.

Hey, there. Physical game is available on both Koodoo and Nexus — where’d you get your “Sadly, the physical edition of Helldivers 2 has been cancelled in South Africa.”?

This was only recently confirmed to launch physically in SA. At the time of writing the disc version wasn’t planned to launch. I have been notified of the launch and corrected the article.
