Arrowhead Game Studios rolled out the first major update for Helldivers 2 last night which brings the first balance changes to the game. The update, which arrives a month after the game’s initial launch, has nerfed a number of weapons and adjusted damage numbers for various stratagems.
Most notably, the update has nerfed the game’s Railgun into the ground. Players have enjoyed using the weapon to fight off the bugs and Automatons but the balance update has now decreased amour penetration and damage against durable enemy parts.
The Railgun was essential for most missions especially when fighting Chargers. Sadly, you’ll have to find another way to kill those assholes now.
Arrowhead Game Studios did buff the Laser Cannon in the latest update by increasing the damage to durable enemy parts and increasing armour penetration. So perhaps that can be used now instead?
The Helldivers 2 update also comes with its own fair share of bug fixes. It also adds damage to players from fire and gas generated by other players. So there are brand new ways to die now too.
The update is now live across PS5 and PC. You can read the full patch notes here.
The game is also expected to get its mech update very soon. Perhaps in the coming days. The official Helldivers 2 X account teased the feature this week posting an image of the so-called Tien Kwan-made EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit ready for “deployment on the battlefield soon”.
