Here’s The Full Technical Seminar on The PS5 Pro By Mark Cerny

The PS5 Pro has been out for a few months already, and while the console packs some extra horsepower, many people don’t understand what the difference is in the hardware. Sony has now released a dedicated PS5 Pro technical seminar video hosted by system architect designer Mark Cerny, where he dives into the various aspects of the console.

The seminar is 37 minutes long. It was hosted at Sony Interactive Entertainment HQ in San Mateo, California. The seminar touches on all the incredibly technical parts of the console. This includes how the raytracing features work, how the console knows which mode to switch to depending on the software, and how the processing pipeline works through the console’s GDDR6 RAM.

There’s a lot of technical stuff in the video. I am quite tech-savvy, and some of these sections are incredibly complicated. However, it still provides a decent overview of the hardware.

Of course, Mark Cerny doesn’t touch on why some third-party games are suffering from downgraded visuals after being “enhanced” for the PS5 Pro. It would be interesting to know why some devs have struggled to improve their games for the hardware while others haven’t. Titles such as Silent Hill, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and even Alan Wake 2 were updated with patches that resulted in shimmering and downgraded visuals.

Thankfully, these issues seem to be getting ironed out over time. Perhaps some devs simply need more time with the new console to figure out exactly how to take full advantage of the hardware.
