Don’t expect any dramatic changes when it comes to the PlayStation 5 box art. Sony unveiled the upcoming next-gen console’s cover art using Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales as an example. To say the least, there’s very little change to be found other than a swap from the “PS4” logo to the “PS5” logo and instead of a blue strip, it is now white.
Sony did not share what the back of the PS5 box looks like either. It would have been interesting to see what the system storage requirements looked like such as remote play options, online play and more. Instead, the company just announced the front.
Let’s be honest, retail is not going to be around for much longer. Digital game sales are taking over with more gamers moving away from buying hard copies. This is unless it is a fancy collector’s or special edition. Capcom recently announced that 70% of Monster Hunter: World lifetime sales were digital. It goes to show how the industry and gamers, in general, are moving away from purchasing retail games. With that being said, should you pick up a PlayStation 5 game from the shop in December onwards, it will look like the above.
