Hi-Fi Rush Reportedly Heading to Nintendo Switch

Hi-Fi Rush, the 2023 rhythm-based action game from Ghostwire: Tokyo developer Tango Gameworks, is reportedly breaking away from Xbox and PC exclusivity and heading to Nintendo Switch. This follows a previous rumour that Microsoft was getting ready to add one of its exclusives to a competitor’s platform. While fans initially suspected that it could be from the Gears, Halo or Forza franchises, a new report suggests that it’s actually Hi-Fi Rush.

According to prominent leaker Nate the Hate, Hi-Fi Rush is the Xbox exclusive that will release in 2024 on a competitor’s platform – specifically Nintendo Switch. Hi-Fi Rush is published by Bethesda which mostly retains its independent publisher status, so it makes sense that this would be the game to go multi-platform despite Xbox’s acquisition of the company. Moreso, the musical action game’s stylish visuals and easy-to-pick-up gameplay is a perfect fit for the Switch.

While the initial rumour was that the exclusive would appear “on a competitor’s platform”, Nintendo has a good relationship with Microsoft to the point where it’s hard to consider the companies competitors in the market. Of course, the biggest culprit would’ve been PlayStation, though it’s unlikely that we’ll see any Xbox exclusives on PS5 anytime soon.

Hi-Fi Rush shadow dropped in early 2023 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, quickly becoming a critical hit and amassing millions of players through Game Pass. The game took home Best Audio at The Game Awards 2023, which was deserved considering that the gameplay is entirely based on sound and music syncing with the action. On a weirder note, fans think Hi-Fi Rush could potentially be teasing The Evil Within 3.

The official description of Hi-Fi Rush reads:

“Feel the beat as wannabe rockstar Chai and his ragtag team of allies rebel against an evil robotics enhancement megacorp with raucous rhythm combat! From Tango Gameworks, the studio that brought you The Evil Within and Ghostwire:Tokyo (no, really) comes Hi-Fi RUSH, an all-new action game where the characters, world and combat stylishly sync to the music!”

Hi-Fi Rush is currently available for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
