Hocus Pocus 2

Hocus Pocus 2 Gets Disney+ Release Date

Disney has announced the release date for the much-anticipated sequel to the original Hocus Pocus. It is also super exciting because I can now officially share Disney+ news and it is actually relevant to South Africans because the service is now available in the region. Hocus Pocus 2 will launch on 30 September on Disney+.

Hocus Pocus 2 is set 29 years after the release of the original film which debuted in 1993. The movie follows the original three witches who were part of a coven that killed children and stole their youth. The original film was a box-office flop but after its release in cinemas, the film grew a massive fan base through its home entertainment release.

According to the official synopsis, Hocus Pocus 2 follows the story of a new set of teenagers that accidently revive the Sanderson witches and they return to wreak havoc on Salem once again. By the sound of things, the film will follow in the previous footsteps and even feature some iconic scenes that pay tribute to the original.

Director Anne Fletcher says it was a dream come true to work with the original cast again. Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker all return to reprise their role as the original witches. Bette Midler is now 76 and still looks pretty fantastic as the lead witch.

“I am beyond thrilled to be involved in the sequel to a film that is as beloved as Hocus Pocus. Fans around the world have embraced these characters and have made this film a Halloween tradition whose popularity continues to grow, and how lucky am I to be back at Disney with these three extraordinarily talented ladies in the iconic roles they created, as well as our fabulous new additions to the cast?”

Disney has yet to share any trailer or teaser for the upcoming movie. We will most likely see more as we lead up to its release on 30 September only on Disney+.
