Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated AAA video games left to release in the second half of 2022 and while we only have a holiday season release window to go on, it looks like an updated listing for the game’s official art book may have accidentally given us a release date: 6 December.
Warner Bros. Games has yet to announce an official release date for Hogwarts Legacy yet, but an updated listing for “The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy: Exploring the Unwritten Wizarding World” has given us our biggest clue. It was previously listed with a placeholder date of 31 December 2022, but that was recently updated to 6 December on Amazon UK. The company also informed buyers of the release date change via email.
Naturally, the official art book would arrive alongside the game (possibly to avoid any potential spoilers getting out), meaning that Hogwarts Legacy likely has a release date of 6 December. We recommend taking this with a pinch of salt until we get an actual confirmation from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, but that may happen sooner rather than later if Amazon unintentionally pulled the trigger early on the release date.
Hogwarts Legacy arrives in the busy second half of 2022 which includes major releases like God of War Ragnarok, Gotham Knights, Overwatch 2, The Last of Us Part I, Bayonetta 3, The Callisto Protocol and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, among many others.
The official description for Hogwarts Legacy on the game’s official website reads:
“Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. For the first time, experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it.”
Hogwarts Legacy is likely on track to release on 6 December 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
