Hogwarts Legacy, the upcoming open-world RPG from developer Avalanche Software and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, will seemingly release after Fantastic Beasts 3 hits cinemas. Unfortunately, no exact date was specified, but since the next Fantastic Beasts film releases on 15 April 2022, it will likely launch before the end of next year.
Reddit user SeerPumpkin shared a Toy World magazine interview where Warner Bros. General Manager Rachel Wakley gave us a hint that Hogwarts Legacy will release after Fantastic Beasts 3, which has the title Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. No reason was given for this strange and oddly specific hint, though we imagine the game could potentially feature some plot points that will be mentioned in the upcoming movie.

Wakley went on to state that there are two major releases for the Wizarding World IP scheduled for 2022, one of which is Fantastic Beasts. The other is Hogwarts Legacy, which was previously delayed from its original 2021 release window. Wakley stated:
“The second major release of 2022 will be for a new console game: Hogwarts Legacy. The reaction to the trailer has been amazing and it looks set to be a huge success. We know that gaming is such an important part of the market and one that we had to be involved in. From what we’ve seen, the launch will be well worth the wait and will deliver a unique way for fans to interact with the franchise.”
Hogwarts Legacy was first unveiled at 2020’s PlayStation 5 September event with a release window of 2021. That has since been delayed (along with Gotham Knights) due the global pandemic affecting development. Fans anticipating this ambitious Harry Potter adventure are excited to jump into a big-budget open-world that lets them create a student, roam around Hogwarts, take classes and explore the surrounding areas of the castle.
Hogwarts Legacy is releasing in 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
