Hollow Knight Silksong Teased Summer Game Fest

Hollow Knight: Silksong is ‘Progressing and Will Release’ Says Devs

The excruciatingly long wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong continues five years after its initial announcement. A recent update from developer Team Cherry isn’t exactly the news fans wanted to hear, though. According to the studio, the game is “real, progressing and will release” at some point.

Team Cherry’s Matthew Griffin took to X to give fans an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong but a release date wasn’t attached to it. Instead, Griffin simply doubled down on the fact that the long-awaited sequel is still very much alive, progressing smoothly and it will release – possibly to tackle any potential rumours or speculation that it might’ve been cancelled along the way. That’s about all Griffin could really say, so that will have to do for now.

Hollow Knight: Silksong was originally announced five years ago and is currently pinned for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC. Back in May 2023, Team Cherry announced that the sequel had been delayed indefinitely. Almost two years have passed since then with little to no updates on the game nor a release date in sight.

The game’s description reads:

“Play as Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, and adventure through a whole new kingdom ruled by silk and song! Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak. Hollow Knight: Silksong is the epic sequel to Hollow Knight, the award winning action-adventure. As the lethal hunter Hornet, journey to all-new lands, discover new powers, battle vast hordes of bugs and beasts and uncover ancient secrets tied to your nature and your past.”

There’s a good chance that Hollow Knight: Silksong might release on Nintendo Switch 2 as well, considering that the next-gen console is set to launch this year. In the meantime, we’ll just have to keep our clown make-up on.
