The upcoming PvPvE game, Hood: Outlaws & Legends seems to blend a Sea of Thieves gameplay approach with a Robin Hood theme and the latest gameplay overview trailer has finally shed some light on how a typical heist in a match will go.
For those who have never heard of the game, Hood: Outlaws & Legends puts two teams of characters against each other in a race to nab some treasure from a heavily guarded fortress. Each map features a unique location along with its own nooks and crannies to explore, secret entrances to find and vantage points that are designed to mould around each of the unique playable characters.

But apart from the core level design, Hood: Outlaws & Legends revolves around competing heists against other players in a PvPvE game mode. Both teams start off on the outskirts of the map and need to find their way into the inner fortress in order to steal the treasure and escape with the chest. However, things aren’t as easy as it seems. Tough enemies guard the treasure including a boss-like Sherrif that holds the key into the vault room. Players will need to find the best way to take this brute down in order to proceed.
Be it by setting traps, taking the Sheriff down in close combat or slowly trickling his health down bit by bit from a distance. Players need that key and need to get it fast. Keep in mind that while your team are trying to find a way to do that, your opponent’s team are doing the same thing. This gameplay approach will often result in a clash between enemies and players.
This is where the characters of Hood: Outlaws & Legends come in as they all deliver unique abilities and combat styles that players can use to get through the mission. The ranger is a silent character that attacks from a distance. He can shoot arrows and even use deadly explosive ammo to take down players and enemies.
The hunter is all about taking the silent approach by sneaking up on enemies and dealing fast deadly damage. Smoke grenades help hide your team and the fast-firing crossbow is ideal for quick damage. The brawler is the tank class who can withstand damage and deal heavy blows to enemies. The Mystic can heal the team while also detecting nearby enemies using magical auras. His flail is also great for crowd control.
Combining everything mentioned above means mastering abilities and each location’s carefully designed corridors in order to get in and out as quick as possible. If you succeed, the treasure holds new cosmetic items and players can progress through each character’s skill tree to unlock new ways to play the game. It all sounds rather exciting.
