PlayStation Studios PC Ports Leak Horizon Forbidden West Demon's Souls

Horizon Forbidden West Has Sold 8.4 Million Copies

Horizon Forbidden West, the latest open-world game from PlayStation first-party studio Guerrilla Games, has sold 8.4 million copies since its launch last year. Together with its predecessor Horizon Zero Dawn, this has brought the overall series sales to a whopping 32.7 million.

Guerrilla Games revealed the impressive sales figures in a recent blog post detailing the numbers for both Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. Despite both games launching a week before two high-profile releases (Zero Dawn before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Forbidden West before Elden Ring), they’ve managed to accumulate surprisingly massive sales on PS4, PS5 and PC.

Studio director Jan-Bart van Beek talked a bit more about the sales, stating:

“Millions more around the world have discovered Horizon thanks to PlayStation’s subscription services and initiatives, including PlayStation Plus, and Play at Home. All told, it’s a milestone we never imagined possible twenty years ago when we first started making games. Last of all, I’d like to share that we are so excited that Aloy’s adventures will continue. Her latest mission takes her to the ruins of Los Angeles in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores, and we can’t wait for you to find out where she’ll go next.”

Guerrilla Games reiterates that Aloy’s adventures will continue, seemingly confirming that Horizon 3 is on the way. Those who have played the Burning Shores expansion might’ve already picked up on the continuation, but it’s good to hear a confirmation from the studio nonetheless. Hopefully it concludes with a satisfying trilogy that’s proven to be one of PlayStation’s biggest IPs in recent years.

Those who own a PS VR2 can try out the VR-exclusive title, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, which has received mostly good reviews since launch. Horizon Forbidden West is currently available for PS4 and PS5 though Burning Shores is exclusive to PS5.
