Yesterday we reported on a handful of PS4 screenshots from Horizon Forbidden West. The screenshots were uploaded online and were supposedly from a playable version of the game that someone managed to get their hands on through a jailbroken PS4 console. It seems that the build is in fact real and if you go searching for the game, you might get your hands on an “unfinished” copy of Horizon Forbidden West.
VGC has since confirmed that the leaked build is legitimate and while it is missing a handful of updates and includes some bugs and issues, the build also includes the entire core content planned for the game.

This is definitely not the news you want to hear about. Especially if you’re picking up Horizon Forbidden West and want to keep the experience spoiler-free. The leaked build might be unfinished, but it does include major story spoilers and other features that Sony has kept under lock and key.
Thankfully, at the time of writing, it seems that the playable build of Horizon Forbidden West has not appeared online. This means users who also have a jailbroken PS4 console, won’t be able to download and install the build until someone uploads it. Hopefully, these files stay off the internet.
This is not the first time Sony has faced a leak this big before the launch of a new game. In 2019, The Last of Us Part II also leaked through an unfinished playable build. This led to massive leaks that Naughty Dog struggled to keep secret. It also led to players assuming major story points, which were in fact not real, and greatly affected the game’s online reputation. Still today, some gamers believe that Abby is trans due to the leaked videos of her before the game’s launch.
You have been warned, steer clear of Horizon Forbidden West spoilers. The game is set to launch on 18 February 2022 for PS4 and PS5.
