Sony announced the Horizon Forbidden West release date which may not make fans happy. For the past few weeks, reports of the game’s delay to 2022 started circling online and now Sony has confirmed that we won’t be playing Aloy’s newest adventure this year. Instead, Horizon Forbidden West will now release in early 2022 on 18 February.
Horizon Forbidden West was originally targeting a late 2021 release date and fans speculated it would be ready to launch by December. The past few gameplay updates showcased an amazing looking game so many believed it was almost at the finish line. However, Guerilla Games says the team are still struggling with time due to the studio still working from home.

While the delay isn’t the best news ever, there is some good news for fans who own the original release and a PS5. Guerrilla Games has just issued an update for Horizon Zero Dawn that enables 4K 60FPS playback on the game through backwards compatibility. This is fantastic for those who managed to grab Horizon Zero Dawn when it was free through the Play At Home initiative earlier this year. The title update is now live.
So to recap – Horizon Forbidden West releases on 18 February 2022. You can start pre-ordering the game on 2 September 2021 and Horizon Zero Dawn now runs at 4K 60FPS on PS5.
