Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster PS5 Guerrilla Games

Horizon Zero Dawn Delisted on Epic Games Store Ahead of Remastered Launch

Horizon Zero Dawn has been delisted from Epic Games Store ahead of the launch of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PC this month. It seems like Sony is gearing up for players to migrate over to the remastered version of the game over the original. Something similar happened on the PlayStation Store after Sony doubled the price of Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition to prevent players from buying the game at a discounted price and paying $9.99 for the upgrade.

As reported by Video Games Chronicle, the Epic Games Store page for Horizon Zero Dawn on PC has been updated. Going to the game’s page now will simply redirect you to the pre-order page for Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, meaning the original game has been delisted. Sony hasn’t officially commented on the delisting.

According to EpicGamesDB, Horizon Zero Dawn on PC was frequently discounted with some sales dropping it to as low as $12.49. If players were to pick up the original game at a low price, they could simply spend an additional $9.99 to upgrade to the remaster without paying the full $49.99 for it. This could be the same reason why Sony also doubled the price of the game on the PlayStation Store: to prevent players from spending less when upgrading to the remaster.

Naturally, the community is divided on the matter. Some appreciate the fact that new players will rather be redirected to the remastered version of the game, while others think Sony is simply trying to squeeze as much money out of players as possible with this move.

In related news, a report from last week claimed that developer Guerrilla Games was all hands on deck for Horizon Online as its next major project – part of PlayStation’s push into the live service space. The third single-player game is reportedly still a ways off from release.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered launches on 31 October 2024 for PS5 and PC.
