Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Announced October

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Officially Announced For October

A week after the ESRB accidentally leaked the game, PlayStation and Guerrilla Games have officially announced Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. The game is expected to launch on 31 October 2024 for both PS5 and PC, bringing its visual fidelity closer to the polished graphics of its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West.

Sony says that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered features 10 hours of re-recorded motion capture to improve character models and animations while updating the visuals to be on par with Horizon Forbidden West. For the most part, this is true as the game looks breathtaking with the visual improvements. It will be able to purchase on PS5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) for $49,99, though those who already own the original game can upgrade to the remaster for $10.

Guerrilla Games studio director and art & animation director Jan-Bart van Been wrote in a recent PlayStation blog post:

“Each year, many millions more pick up Horizon Zero Dawn for the first time. As time moved on, we really wished that new players who join Aloy on her origin story can do it with a version that is worthy of their PS5 or compatible PC. And so, we are thrilled to announce that the game has been remastered by our talented friends at Nixxes.”

Speaking more on the various updates and improvements made to the remaster, van Been added:

“The game’s lush world includes frozen mountains, dense jungles, and arid deserts with stunning new visuals and 4K graphics and travelling between settlements is now lightning-fast. The story’s many compelling characters have been upgraded, bringing them in line with current generation advances in character models and rendering. We hope that improved animation, lightning, textures and more will make new and existing fans excited to dive into the action.”
