HBO has released the first official trailer for the Game of Thrones prequel – House of the Dragon. The show is just a month away from its debut and the trailer gives us a good glimpse of things to come. If anything, the two-minute video reveals the show will feature a lot of Targaryens. This is expected given how the race played a crucial role in the past history of the original books (and the TV show which we won’t talk about here).

House of the Dragon debuts on 21 August on HBO and HBO Max. In South Africa, you’ll be able to watch it on DStv as an express release from the US. However, details on times and dates are still unannounced. We also don’t know whether or not the show will be available through Showmax. Previous HBO titles all had contracts in place for HBO releases. Hopefully, more details will be announced soon.

House of the Dragon is a 10-part series based on George R.R Martin’s Fire and Blood book. It takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
